Welcome to the new season at Falmouth Docks. It’s now 62 years since we were formed way back in 1949. We are now one of the oldest clubs in England, and the oldest and largest in the South West. For the record St Albans is the nation’s oldest surviving club – formed in 1927.

The Club AGM has been arranged for Wednesday 14 September at Earle’s Retreat, Trelawney Road, Falmouth, commencing at 7.30 pm. Everyone is welcome and an agenda is enclosed. The AGM is a little later than usual due to availability of the venue and some unforeseen circumstances.

We will shortly be distributing membership forms to all our members and we would appreciate it if everyone can fill out the forms and return to me or Nicola Cortis/Len Lewis on the club reception desk on Thursday evenings. We would like to introduce electronic distribution of information as far as possible and information contained on the forms will be a great help in achieving this. Also, any person not registered in a team will need to pay a small £ 5.00 Annual Membership Fee to join the club.

With the Club AGM being delayed we have entered 11 teams from Falmouth Docks and 2 teams from Saracens (Penryn College) into the West Cornwall League for the forthcoming season. Our teams are spread across all four divisions and it gives a number of our players opportunities to play in the league against other teams. Falmouth Docks’ league matches are played at Penwerris Church Hall in Falmouth. We have tentatively selected some teams and these will be announced shortly but if anyone would like a place in a team that has not already come forward, please let me know.

We are very pleased that so many people support the club night at Penryn College on Thursday evenings. We now have 15 tables with another blue Cornilleau table on the way which is good news. We try to cater for all abilities and age groups on club nights and everyone is welcome including players from other clubs. However, we could do with some more assistance as we are quite thin on the ground with coaches and feeders for our young players. If there are any volunteers please contact me. Would everyone please note that there has been a small increase in fees for the Club Night for the forthcoming season and the charge is now £ 2.50 for the session with a single charge of £ 6.00 if you are a family of three players.

If you have any contributions please don’t hesitate to contact our new Webmaster Dominic Chatfield on This email address is being protected from spambots. The County Junior Trials will take place this coming Saturday at the Cornwall Table Tennis Centre in St Austell starting at 9.30 am. A number of our Juniors and Cadets will be involved.

Welcome to the new season at Falmouth Docks. The light evenings are drawing in and it’s time to think about digging your bat out again! We hope you have a successful and enjoyable season.

We are now approaching the mid point of the 2010/2011 season and we are managing to sustain the record nine teams representing Falmouth Docks and two teams from Saracens at Penryn College. There are more players keen to sign up for teams next season so the future is looking very bright indeed. Currently Falmouth Docks  A and B lie second and third overall in the Premier Division and newly promoted Saracens are taking Division 2 by storm and are top at the moment.
